Support Our Mission

Who does the Grand Island YMCA’s Annual Community Support Campaign support? Your donation supports families who would benefit from a Y membership, but cannot afford one. Would you like to support the families in our community? Every dollar is appreciated and put to good use.

Jordan is a first-grader who plays in the Grand Island YMCA’s youth basketball league. “I have a fun time playing basketball,” she said. Jordan’s family receive a program scholarship. Without the scholarship her parents wouldn’t be able to afford this fun activity for their child.

Stephanie learned to swim because of the Grand Island YMCA’s Operation Splash program. “The best day was when we did superhero and back floats. It was awesome. I want to go again,” she said. Operation Splash gives children from financially challenged families the opportunity for free swim lessons.

When Caleb first started coming to the YMCA Fun Club, he was shy and would not respond to yes and no questions or participate in group activities. Through the patience and hard work of the staff, he now introduces himself in large groups, speaks his preferences and fully participates.

Maria is working her way back from a broken hip and the surgery related to that injury. At 75 years of age, staying mobile is critical to her physical and mental health. Maria enjoys walking and now because of a membership scholarship, she has the opportunity to exercise at the Grand Island Y.
